Dance Summer School

Summer School 2012: 23rd – 27th July.

Springs Dance Company is delighted to present its ever popular summer school. Participants of all levels of dance experience are invited to apply for a creative, inspiring and refreshing week of dance and fellowship.

Programme

Each day will begin with time spent in prayer and worship. These sessions may also include opportunities to reflect, bible study, praise and worship dances, improvisation and prayer through dance.

Following from the devotional time, classes will begin with a contemporary technique class, which will be developed through the week in order to increase performance quality, strength, flexibility, stamina and creative ideas.

Each day will focus on choreography and repertoire, and participants will work with choreographers from Springs Dance Company to create a short dance presentation that will be performed as part of the programme on Friday evening. Based on biblical text, the choreography will be designed to challenge, enrich, encourage and inspire those participating as well as those watching the performance.

Venue

The Summer School will take place at St Mildred’s Centre in East Croydon from 10.30am to 4.30pm Monday – Wednesday, 10.30am til late on Thursday and 10.30am to 1pm on Friday. St Mildred’s is a brand new space which is easily accessible by bus, tram and train from London. Participants come from far and wide to take part in Summer School, and we can provide a list of B&Bs to help you find accommodation.

Performance

Thursday 26th July at 7.30pm at St Mildred’s Centre, Bingham Road, Croydon.

Once again, as part of the Summer School, Springs Dance Company will perform an evening of their unique repertoire. Summer School participants will open the evening with a short dance presentation.

Each Summer School participant is encouraged to purchase tickets for family and friends with more tickets available for the general public. Tickets cost £6 if booked in advance or £8 on the door.
