The Education Programme

In schools we:

  • Specialise in cross-curricular Dance, in particular RE (Christianity) and PSHE
  • Deliver creative, inspiring, fun and energetic performances, workshops and assemblies
  • Grow children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through dance
  • Value young people, giving them a voice and supporting them to thrive

Our workshops for schools are highly praised, with one teacher saying:

“A wonderful workshop that encompassed a wide range of dance/performance skills; whilst keeping the different elements of child growth at the centre! A fantastic event with amazing instructors!” - Daniel Wood, St Luke’s CofE Primary School Bury

Person Specification

Springs Dance Company is looking for teachers who:

  • Have completed full-time dance training
  • Are contemporary dance specialists who already have considerable experience delivering creative dance workshops to primary aged children
  • Are reliable, organised and willing to work as a team with another teacher
  • Have the ability to plan workshops in line with the primary curriculum
  • Are willing to undertake teacher training in becoming an RE (Christianity) and Dance specialist
  • Are outstanding communicators in order to liaise effectively and in a friendly manner with the Springs office and school contacts
  • Are willing to travel nationally (including overnight stays)
  • Are supportive of the Company’s Christian ethos

Although we always insist on a member of the school’s staff being present during sessions, we require all teachers to have a recent enhanced DBS check, which we can assist with obtaining.

Availability

Work is offered on an ad-hoc basis and we are looking for teachers who are based across the country. We take workshop bookings all year round, but our busiest seasons are leading up to Christmas and Easter. Workshop bookings are taken in full days, so we require teachers to be available for a full day of teaching. Projects can last from 1 – 6 days and often require an overnight stay before or between workshops, depending on the location. The work is especially suitable for people with other flexible part-time/freelance employment.

Workshops

Our dance workshops are usually taught in teams of two. The theme and focus of the workshop is agreed in advance between the school and the Springs office, then it is up to the workshop teachers to creatively plan the exact contents of the workshop using the framework provided by Springs. Workshops are usually delivered for a class of up to 30 pupils, and can either be one-off workshops or part of a longer project leading up to a sharing or performance from the children. A workshop day can also sometimes include being required to lead an assembly or collective worship.

Pay

£80 - £120 per day. Plus travel expenses.
